By now everyone knows that America has a problem with being overweight. In fact, 3 out of every 4 Americans are considered overweight and 1 in every 3 are classified as obese. Why is it that we have such a massive problem (no pun intended)? Some experts say it is because people are lazy. I strongly disagree. What we have done over the last year, 3 years, or 30 years has slowly accumulated and has been a direct result of our habits.

I think it is a matter of changing habits and let’s face it that is not easy. Sure it is optimal to cook your own food, carry around a cooler all day and eat every 3 hours but there’s one small problem. It’s not realistic for 90% of the population. So how do you do it then? There is a solution. It is a matter of getting educated on how the body works and how to apply this information in the real world. That is what I am hoping to do here. My goal is to help you get your best body ever while making it as enjoyable as possible. Sounds crazy huh?

Well it is possible and I am going to give you the break down on how you can do it. In this article, you will learn what to eat when you go to one of my all-time favorite places:

OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE

What is an Optimal Meal?

An optimal meal is a meal that boosts metabolism, increases energy by stabilizing blood sugar levels and when consumed consistently releases fat for fuel. An Optimal Meal contains a Lean Protein, Starchy Carbohydrate and a Fibrous Vegetable. For best results, an optimal meal should be ingested every 3 hours up to six times per day.

How much should I eat?

Eat enough to where you are satisfied but not stuffed. In other words, you should feel energized afterwards not sluggish. If you feel tired after you eat an optimal meal then you ate too much. Don’t be afraid to take some home with you.

The Best Choices

Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie

I am a big fan of these. They don’t fill me up like some of the other dishes but they are low in fat and are great source of protein. I recommend ordering a baked potato with it and steamed vegetables.

Grilled Chicken on the Barbie

These are great! I ordered them for two years before trying something different on the menu. They are considered a lean protein. Since they already come with steamed vegetables you will need to order a sweet potato or baked potato with it.

Botany Bay Fish O’ the Day

I don’t order this much but it is a good choice as long as it’s not a fresh water fish like trout or salmon. If you really want it go ahead and get it but eliminate the starchy carb (potato or sweet potato). This will help make up for the extra fat calories.

Victoria Center Cut Filet

If you are a fan of steak then this is one of the leanest cuts of beef that you can find. I recommend a baked potato and a house salad with fat free tangy tomato dressing to go with it.

Outback Special

This is what I usually get. This is a top sirloin steak. It is considered a lean source of protein. You can start off with a house salad without the cheese and croutons. (If you are on a date then ditch the purple onions too. Know what I mean? ) Ask for Fat-Free tangy tomato dressing on the side and get a sweet potato or baked potato. Since this meal is large by most people standards then you may want to take some home or choose another option.

What is the best thing to drink?

Beer. Just kidding.

The best thing to drink is always water but it does get boring. Try unsweetened tea or if you want something sweet have a Diet Coke.

A Few Tips!

  • Unless you like to torture yourself, then ask your server to not bring any bread.
  • Drink one glass of water before your food comes. This helps prevent overeating and ensures that you get an adequate amount of water.

There is always a way if you are committed.
